New Managed Ethernet Service Offering Targets Enterprises,
the Federal Government and Integrators NationwidePetaluma, CA and McLean, VA, June 1st, 2005 -
Global Internetworking Inc. (GII), a facilities neutral network
solutions provider, and Turin Networks, a leading developer
and supplier of multiservice transport switching platforms for
telecommunications carriers worldwide, announced today that
GII has selected Turin's Traverse® platform to support
the expansion of GII's Ethernet services portfolio. With the
addition of managed Ethernet Wide Area Network services, GII
can now tailor a broader range of network solutions to enterprise,
Federal Government, and integrator customers that combine high
scalability with bandwidth flexibility.
"As larger carriers consolidate, and the economics of using
integrated best of breed solutions that rely upon innovative
technologies like Turin's become compelling, GII is ideally
positioned to deliver managed Ethernet services in the medium-to-large
sized enterprise and government market sectors" said Todd Vecchio,
president and co-founder of GII. "The tailored implementations
we provide offer an alternative to the incumbents that is significantly
more robust and diverse, as well as more cost-effective."
"Turin improves the ability of leading Virtual Network Operators
like GII to deliver new cost-effective Ethernet-based services"
said Henry Wasik, president and CEO of Turin Networks. "They
are a great partner and we are excited to work with them as
part of our larger push into the enterprise and government market
sectors."
Turin's Traverse Multiservice Transport Switch was selected
by GII to support the company's managed Ethernet service offering.
The Traverse platform unifies powerful Layer 2 Ethernet switching
and next generation SONET/SDH transport capabilities in a single
platform, providing GII the ability to deliver point-to-point
and multipoint Ethernet services with the highest levels of
resiliency and bandwidth efficiency. Intelligent Ethernet traffic
management features such as VLAN, VLAN Stacking, rate shaping
and granular Quality of Service (QoS) enable Ethernet services
to be offered with assured throughput performance.
GII's managed Ethernet service offering is ideal for enterprises
or government institutions needing to run high bandwidth applications,
or inter-connect Local Area Networks (LANs), between multiple
sites. Customers are provided with a native Ethernet interface
at rates ranging from 1 Mbps up to 1 Gbps, which can be adjusted
based on business demands in 1 Mbps increments. "Managed
Ethernet services play a critical role in GII's growth strategy,
so we evaluated multiple products and vendors to support this
new offering" said Gary Hale, vice president of global operations,
GII. "The technology versatility and superior bandwidth management
capabilities of Turin's Traverse provided GII the most cost-effective
and efficient network solution." About Global
