Turin Networks Announces iConnect™ Solutions Strategy for End-to-End Carrier Ethernet Migration over Any Media

Comprehensive Strategy Encompasses Ethernet-based Service Delivery and Transport for Business Ethernet Services, Wireless Backhaul and Residential Broadband Infrastructure

Petaluma, CA, June 18, 2007 – Turin Networks, a global provider of metro service edge equipment for wireline, wireless, MSO and private networks, today announced iConnect™, the company’s comprehensive solutions strategy for the migration to Ethernet service delivery and transport. iConnect incorporates Turin’s industry-leading Traverse®, TraverseEdge™ and Traverse PacketEdge™ product lines to enable the end-to-end delivery of Ethernet services over any transport medium ranging from DS1 copper access circuits to 10-Gigabit Ethernet over fiber.

Driven by growing demand for high-bandwidth, IP-based services, network operators of all types are in the midst of transitioning from TDM to a converged, Ethernet-optimized network infrastructure. Carrier Ethernet plays a multi-dimensional role in this migration as both a transport and service delivery technology. Turin’s iConnect solution strategy addresses network operators’ key migration needs by enabling the efficient co-existence of carrier Ethernet and TDM services, and by incorporating both Ethernet service delivery and transport with unified end-to-end service provisioning and management.

Turin’s iConnect-based solution enables service providers to deliver a broad range of high growth services and applications including MEF-defined E-Line (point-to-point) and E-LAN (multipoint) Business Ethernet services and carrier Ethernet infrastructure for wireless backhaul of 2G/2.5G/3G/4G, WiMAX and WiMesh services over copper or fiber access network facilities. iConnect-based solutions also provide efficient switching and transport of IPTV, Video on Demand and new, high-growth Video Surveillance applications. The iConnect solutions strategy incorporates Turin’s complete product portfolio, including the Traverse Multiservice Transport Switch Family for the metro core, the TraverseEdge Family for multiservice metro access networks, and the Traverse PacketEdge 1200 Ethernet/IP Service Edge Aggregator for copper T1/PDH access networks.

“iConnect defines our Ethernet-based solution strategy that addresses network transport and service migration requirements for all types of service providers from the metro core to the aggregation edge,” said Henry Wasik, president and CEO of Turin Networks. “With our new 10GE service modules, we have further extended Ethernet service and transport flexibility and capacity while enabling service providers to deploy any mix of TDM and carrier Ethernet to facilitate network and service migration at their own pace. We will continue to lead the industry in solutions that allow service providers to leverage the efficiency of Ethernet regardless of their transport infrastructure.”
